Youth Video Competition 2012

Downtown Showcase for Video

Look up, way up! The Berlin Tower at Kitchener City Hall has become a beacon of creative digital projections. Images and videos are projected onto two sides of the top of the tower - an area called the Cube. On it, we showcase community festivals, events and public art.

Imagine your video projected on the Cube, for all to see!

Prizes

Three cash awards of $300 each
Plus, up to 10 honourable mentions will be exhibited for a minimum of one month

Submit Original Videos

Are you between the ages of 12 and 25?  If so, submit your original, short, silent videos, film and animations for exhibition on the Cube.

Criteria

  • Maximum video length: 3 minutes.  Minimum video length: 50 seconds
  • The Cube has no audio capability, so your video must not depend on sound for its impact
  • One video per applicant
  • Originality, quality and design values consistent for successful projections on the Cube.  Not all video projects well.  TIP: check out the Cube before applying to the competition.
  • Compliance with the specified technical criteria, and confirmation that if you are a finalist, you will submit your video on disk in the required format
  • Protect yourself: get permission forms signed by any identifiable people in your video - without their permission, you can't exhibit the work
  • Content will be screened in a public setting and should be appropriate for an all-ages audience.

 How to submit your video

  • Upload your work to your own You Tube (or similar) account.
  • Fill out the on-line application form, including the URL where we can see your video.
