Youth Program Grant

Each year in June the City of Kitchener, Waterloo Regional Police Service, Kitchener Fire Department and Waterloo Region Emergency Medical Services host the 911 Youth Charity Golf Tournament. Proceeds from this highly popular event are donated to the youth program grants. In 2010, this program was also supported by the 11th Annual City of Kitchener Building and Industry Golf Social.

The purpose of the program is to provide financial support to projects that promote healthy, safe, positive activities and contribute to a better community for Kitchener youth.

  • The grant is intended for projects (youth programs, services, special events) operating within Kitchener (region-wide programs may also be considered)
  • For the purpose of this grant, youth has been defined as those from 0 - 21 years of age; however, priority is given to projects supporting youth from 9 - 21 years of age.

What are the eligibility criteria for the grant program?

  • Applicants should submit a report that includes a description of the group (your history and your staff, what resources the group has, the group's financial status and what the group intends to do with the grant). This must include a recent financial statement. Although other sources of funding are not an excluder, groups that do not have significant ability or administrative structure to assist in securing or maintaining funding are given priority.
  • The maximum grant is $300.
  • Groups that have previously received a grant from this program may re-apply but priority will be given to new applications that meet the criteria.
  • Projects are eligible for this grant if: a) the project can demonstrate that it meets the criteria and, b) the project is intended to be implemented 12 months of receiving the grant.
  • Prior to receiving a grant, the successful candidate may be required to meet with the selection committee.
  • Any eligible program may only receive a grant for a maximum of 3 years.
  • Groups that receive a grant must submit a Youth Program Grant evaluation form within one year of the receipt of the grant.

The deadline to submit the 2010/2011 application form is Jan. 28, 2011 at 4 p.m.
