Water Management

Water is one of our most precious resources.

Much of Kitchener's drinking water comes from groundwater sources, which includes the Grand River. In turn, numerous local creeks feed into the Grand River, which also receives and assimilates our treated wastewater.

We are committed to working with our residents and partners to protect water in all of its forms, including:

  • Groundwater and surface water for drinking.

  • Water in the Grand River, creeks, wetlands and ponds that provides habitat for many species, recreational opportunities, and filters pollutants from our ecosystem.

Kitchener Utilities provides a variety of tips on how you can play your part in conserving water.
