Senior Day Program

Kitchener's senior day program provides assistance to older adults from our community who, due to health or mobility restrictions, find it difficult to attend programs and activities at our older-adult centres.

The program operates Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Kitchener's Downtown Community Centre.

Members enjoy coffee and conversation, gentle chair exercises, a nutritious hot noon meal, interesting speakers, lively discussion groups, cards and games and musical entertainment.

The program:

  • Assists older adults in achieving and maintaining their maximum level of functioning.

  • Offers stimulation through recreational opportunities.

  • Reduces loneliness and offers opportunities to socialize with others.

  • Provides respite and support for families caring for an older adult.

  • Provides information and referral to other community services and programs.

Participants who require transportation are picked up by Mobility Plus or volunteer drivers.

The program is funded by the city and the Local Health Integration Network. Participants pay $12.15 per day, plus transportation costs.

Referrals to the program are made through the Community Care Access Centre (CCAC).
