Maintaining and upgrading Kitchener's roads is an essential part of sustaining our transportation system.
The City of Kitchener undertakes a number of projects each year to upgrade our roads network; this work usually takes place in the spring and summer months.

With that in mind, we undertake an annual sidewalk program, focusing on the creation of new sidewalks and walkways, as well as the improvement of existing ones, to ensure all of our residents can enjoy a pedestrian-friendly environment.
We also rely on the community to assist us maintain our sidewalks in the winter, keeping them clear of ice and snow.
