Community Environmental Improvement Grants
Kitchener's community environmental improvement grant (CEIG) program was created to foster a sense of environmental stewardship throughout our city.
Objectives
The objectives of the community environmental improvement grants are to:
- to increase people's awareness of how they view and treat air, water and land resources and encourage them to be involved in solutions to improve the quality of those resources;
- to foster a sense of environmental stewardship;
- to promote community environmental awareness;
- to promote and initiate the development of community based environmental projects; and
- to support environmental research.
Who can apply for a grant?
CEIG assists organizations, associations or groups working towards building a cleaner, healthier more environmentally sustainable Kitchener. A list of recent recipients with brief project descriptions is found at the bottom of this page.
The following groups are welcome to apply for a CEIG:
- Non-profit groups
- Neighbourhood associations
- Communities of interest - a group of individuals who voluntarily associate with each other because they have identified common environmental concerns that impact the city.
A limit may be placed on the number of grant applications considered from schools or school related entities in a given year.
