Air quality remains one of the most pressing problems of modern cities and Kitchener is no exception.

Emissions, produced through the combustion of fossil fuels for transportation, heating and electric power, diminish our air quality, and continue to take a toll on climate change and human health.

While global, federal and provincial efforts to improve air quality are vital, our role - as well as your role - is just as important. Solutions to global issues like air quality begin at home.

We continue to play a vital role in addressing our air quality and minimizing its effects on public health by:

Advocating action from the federal, provincial and regional levels of government in addition to business and industry.
Facilitating local action to clean the air.
Informing residents about air quality issues and the simple things that can be done to improve air quality.
