Stormwater Infrastructure Rehabilitation

The city was awarded $1.380 million in federal and provincial infrastructure funding, to rehabilitate multiple key storm-water drainage and storm-water management infrastructure assets. The city also contributed $690,000 in funding, which means the total amount allocated for this project was $2.070 million.

Project background

Infrastructure improvements to existing stormwater management facilities focused on the remediation of infrastructure in each facility, sediment removal where required, and the equipment of each facility to treat stormwater quality, in addition to their current function of only controlling stormwater quantity.

These upgrades have subsequently improved the water quality of local creeks, streams and the Grand River that receive stormwater; as well as the habitat for plants and animal life that exist in and near the affected watercourses.
