Unfortunately, an error was made on page 69 of the Summer 2012 Leisure guide. The Breithaupt Centre camp listings, including all related codes, dates and pricing, is incorrect. Kitchener's Leisure magazine contains all of the recreational programs provided by the City of Kitchener and its affiliated neighbourhood associations. The publication is published four times a year by the city and is delivered door-to-door to 62,500 local homes.  

An additional 11,500 copies are distributed to recreation facilities, community service groups, doctors' offices, churches and libraries throughout our community.

The Summer issue of the Leisure Guide is now being distributed locally.  If you are interested in advertising in our FALL Leisure Guide, please return to this page on or around May 30 and fill out an online order form in order to be placed in the next issue. The Fall Leisure Guide will be to residents on August 10, 2012. See below for publication deadlines and advertising information.

 

Advertising rates

We offer two rate scales -- one for registered non-profits and another for for-profit businesses.

In order to qualify for the non-profit rate, your organization must provide a registered charitable or non-profit number.

The 2012 rates are: (Prices reflect a 3% council-approved increase for 2012 as well as the 1% increase that was not implemented in July, 2011.)

If you require changes to your advertisement, a minimum $45 design fee will apply.

Advertising in all four issues pays off! If you place the same size advertisement in all four issues each year, starting with the spring edition and ending with the winter edition, you will receive a 20 per cent discount on the winter billing.

Payment is not required at the time of ad submission. Your organization will be invoiced after Leisure is delivered.

Advertising submission information

Placement -- Final placement of ads depends on layout requirements (exact positioning cannot be guaranteed).

Proofs - You must provide an email address to receive a proof of your ad. Proofs will be sent to all advertisers to avoid errors. If we do not hear back from you by the date specified with your proof, the ad will run as it was sent to you.

Camera ready - A black-and-white version of your ad printed from a laser printer (not inkjet, bubblejet, dot matrix or a faxed version). Changes cannot be made to camera ready artwork. Only one final copy of your ad will be accepted. A second copy may be needed to indicate spot colour application if applicable. If two or more pieces require assembly, a design fee will apply.

Technical requirements for ads submitted on disk or by e-mail - Leisure is produced on a Macintosh system with QuarkXPress 7. The following are acceptable formats to supply ads:

  • QuarkXPress 7 (with all fonts and images included)
  • Illustrator CS2 or previous. Please make sure file is prepared to separate correctly.
  • .pdf
  • .jpg (resolution at 300 dpi minimum)
  • .tif (resolution at 300 dpi minimum)
  • Photoshop CS2 (resolution at 300 dpi minimum)
  • .eps
  • .ai

Please remember:

  • Publisher files will not be accepted. If you prepare your ad in Publisher, you must save it as a .pdf or high res .jpg file.
  • Word files cannot be accepted as digital work. If you cannot submit your ad in any of the above listed formats, please supply a hard copy of your ad. This will be considered camera-ready art work and cannot be altered.
  • Camera ready artwork cannot be submitted by fax.
