Playing our part to stimulate the economy

Energy Management Systems Upgrade

The city's goal of standardizing and upgrading its energy-management control systems throughout its facilities -- and installing them where they are currently absent -- was awarded $1 million in federal and provincial infrastructure funding. The city also contributed $500,000 in funding, which means the total amount allocated for this project was $1.5 million.

Project background

This project allows the building environments to be controlled remotely for quicker response to customer complaints and provide access to data for system trouble shooting purposes.

Energy-management systems allow better energy usage monitoring on individual buildings, resulting in reduced energy usage and reduced greenhouse-gas emissions.
